So How Do You Actually Read Your Bible?

It’s hard staying on track with reading and studying the Bible. It is self-explanatory the Bible is the word of God, and we need it. God is fine without us reading it on a schedule. However, we struggle and usually we totally lose it to submit our lives to the word sometimes my days are very busy and when there is time to spend it with the Bible I tend to do something else. There are a lot of things to do.

How do you push yourself?

I found a way out for me. When my brain doesn’t want to calm down and get closer to God, I open your Version Bible app and listen to the scriptures. This is how I do it.

I usually focus on a book if it isn’t long to listen. Then I listened to it several times clear my brain find some food for thought. This is my main goal. It can be a verse, main idea of some passage or general thoughts on the book. Basically, I tried to hook me up with it. As soon as I get some idea running in my brain, it’s time to get serious about it. I take my favorite version of the Bible (take pictures of my real bibles.) and the magic begins.

First, I read the book or verse that caught my attention. Then I usually follow the steps written in this blog post on it but not always with my worksheet. There is so much you can do with this verse message and there is a lot you can learn from it. Here are some tips what you could do:

  • Take a look at the cross-reference to check if they add something new or different to the place you read.
  • Check the meaning of all the words in the dictionary. It’s also helpful to look up the meaning of their regional Greek words in the concordance. I use it as an app.
  • You could try verse mapping techniques if you like writing things down or if you like to doodle. You can create some creative and original designs for verse mapping.

And the last piece of advice to get started with reading the Bible regularly. Create some sort of routine around reading the Bible, maybe some specific lightning or a specific place where you can do it or specific music that sets the mood. Because it’s kind of difficult to get down to the Bible, if you are running through the day with all the tasks you need to complete. But if you create a routine, it will get much easier to have the right mood and motivation.

If you like to read something about how to stay motivated, how to be productive, how to stop procrastination or anything, I recommend a guy I really enjoy. His name is James Clear, I hope you all like him too.
