What Can God Do with our Dead Dreams?

I remember the first time God told me He had some purpose for me. I was so scared and overwhelmed at the same time. At first, I felt authority. The Almighty God has a purpose for me. But then doubts came up to me. This dream is bigger than me. What if I can’t fulfill it.

Have you ever received a vision/dream or aim from God? Do you remember your feelings at that moment?

Unfortunately, I lack the self-control to commit to some goals. So after a while, these fresh dreams from God become dead ones. I know that I have a prophetic gift from God but do not develop it. To be honest, I am afraid to do it.

As I’ve already shared with you some lessons for my spiritual life this summer, God also reminded me of gifts and desires He gave me earlier.

Can Bible teach us what to do with dead dreams?

When we look in the Bible at the story of a mother with a dead son (2 Kings 4:19-37), we see a desperate woman. Her son died. Any mother would be ruined by such news. Moreover, he was the only son. This boy was a gift from God himself because she received him by Elisha’s words.

This woman was very welcoming to Elisha and prepared a place for him to stay in her house if the prophet was ever passing by. She wanted him to have a place for rest and she asked for nothing in return. But she received a boy.

So when this boy died, she knew where to go for help. Her husband told her not to go. She said ‘yes’ and went. Elisha didn’t come instead he sent his servant. The woman didn’t give up still and went to Elisha to ask for his presence. She was persistent. Deep in her heart, she knew Elisha had the answer for her problem, her dead son, her dream. Do you know what happened next? This woman witnessed a miracle again – her son was alive

God wants to do the same with our dead dreams

Think of your vision, dream or a gift you have received from God. Maybe it was such long time ago that it even stinks as a dead child. Go to God! He is alive and He is able to restore you. God wants to encourage you if you’re broken. Moreover, God is able to revive your dreams and desires. He wants you to fulfill His intentions about you! You have no time for whining and self-pity.

Pray as you read this. I pray may God fulfill your dreams for His glory.

    1. Hi, I appreciate your opinion on my blog. I can share some resources I was using while creating it by myself. I definitely recommend this blog post by Natalie Bacon. However, starting a blog was a challenge itself, so I might cover this topic one day as well.
